Nan Gillett passed away yesterday morning after a long fight against pancreatic cancer. She was mother to two of my lifelong friends - Bob and Victor.
I remember going to birthday parties at her house when I was 5 years old.
I remember her walking down to the football field to check on Victor when he was injured in a game.
I remember her frowning at me with disappointment after I peeled out in front her house one night. I never did that again.
I remember bumping into her at Bob's restaurant (Si Bon) in Austin in 1997. She said she was so glad to know that I was living in the same city as Bob so that I could "keep an eye on him".
I remember seeing her at Victor's wedding in 2002... she was so glad to see me that she cried out my name and embraced me.
I remember a lot of great things about her. I just loved her and I thought she was an absolutely amazing mother and person. How fortunate I was to be a small part of her life. My heart and thoughts are with Bob, Victor, Pam, Lisa, Valerie and their significant others and now massive list of children.

About to head over to the visitation. Who knows who'll pop up there. I'll fill you in later.
Awesome summary of a great woman/mother's life.
Where is that Mustang of yours anyways?

I printed this out and showed it to Vic- he got a good laugh. Bob was classic. Asked us to make sure to destroy, for the last time, all evidence of Austin House parties.
As I left, Bob was walking Mrs. Reeves out to her car. Mrs. Broaddus and Berri (biology) gave 'em big hugs. Vic said he comes to Houston frequently so if I ever make it back down south I'll see him and the wife/kids again.
Marco's in town with the fam today and tomorrow so I'll get some lunch/dinner action today. Romie is so busy with work/school/woman he's almost invisible.
